Beautiful Flower Farms near Toronto

Updated: Apr 13, 2022

Do you love flowers? Then visit a flower farm before the end of summer! Wanna know our experiences with two flower farms? Read more below. We visited two of the beautiful flower farms: the Sunflower Farm and Terre Bleu Lavender Farm!

The Sunflower Farm

Located in Beaverton, this family farm has 20-acre sunflower fields open for the public in July and August. This is only Sunflower Farm in the Durham region (east of Toronto). I already followed Ursula, the owner of the Sunflower Farm, on IG, so we decided we wanted to see this sunflower farm for ourselves!

We ordered tickets online for a timeslot of one hour. Seeing the beautiful sunflowers already from the road, I couldn’t wait to see the flowers from up close. While we arrived, we parked at the farm and got our camera gear ready. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and we were one of the first people to arrive that day. The start of the trail is next to the parking and this year they made a trail in the shape of a sunflower.

While we walked on the trail and to see all these sunny flowers around us, I couldn’t stop smiling 😊 We walked around and we enjoyed being between the flowers and of course taking pictures!

At the end of the trail, I bought a sunny organic t-shirt and while we walked back to the car, I realized this experience gave me instant happiness! 😊

Terre Bleu Lavender Farm

Terre Bleu is the largest Lavender Farm in Ontario and is located in Campbellville. The Lavender Farm is founded by Ian and Isabelle Baird in 2011 and opened in 2014 for the public. The organic farm has 200 acres with 75,000 lavender plants, herbs, and flowers and gets over 10k visitors every summer. I love lavender, the color, and of course the smell, so this farm was on my wish list 😊

While we arrived by the end of the morning there was already a big lineup for our timeslot, but it went quite fast. We visited the two big fields of lavender. The beautiful purple of the lavender is amazing to see! But we got a little annoyed with all the people who didn’t know that you shouldn't walk through or step over the lavender.

It is lovely how Terre Bleu has these nice setups (door, frame, and swing) in and around the farm. We of course took a picture with the iconic yellow door in the lavender field. You feel a little bit like Alice in Wonderland while standing in front of the yellow door, magical! 😊

After some famous lavender ice cream made by Terre Bleu, we went to the second part of the farm. It is less than a minute from the first part of the farm and here you could see more lavender, sunflowers and other flowers. I quickly found the swing, which gave me great views of the sunflowers and lavender. Of course, this scenery also asked for several pictures 😊
